Summer Enrichment 2023 - Musical theatre

The Anchor Bay High School School District is proud to present our 2023 Musical Theatre Summer Enrichment Program! This intensive program will take place over 2 weeks as students learn MTI's Broadway Juniors Musical Revue - Raise Your Voice! The show will be open to the public and will take place at the Anchor Bay High School Performing Arts Center on August 11th, 2023!

ABHS DRAMA - SPRING MUSICAL

The Anchor Bay High School Drama students are proud to present their spring musical, Anne of Green Gables by Norman Campbell, Music by Donald Harron, adapted from the novel by L.M. Montgomery! The show will take place at the Anchor Bay High School Performing Arts Center on April 20th, 21st, and 22nd.

Anchor bay bands - distirct xvi band festival

March 13th, 2023

Congratulations to the Anchor Bay Concert Ensembles on outstanding performances at MSBOA District 16 Festival this past weekend!  The Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Concert/Cadet Band all received an Overall 1st Division “Superior” Rating and the 9th Grade Symphonic Band earned an Overall 2nd Division “Excellent” Rating!  All of our ABHS Bands earned straight A’s in Sight-Reading this year!!!  We had lots of great feedback to look through today and listen to our performances.  After our reflection day today the students should feel inspired to make even larger musical growth as we head into Spring Assessment and Spring Concert Season! 

ABHS DRAMA - STATE ONE ACT COMPETITION

February 21st, 2023

Our one act show Gathering Blue competed at the state festival this past weekend at Central Michigan University. Our show placed fifth in Division 1, and many of our students received special recognition awards for their efforts and achievements at the regional festival, including the following: Quentin Eckert, Sienna Berres, and Sarah McGraw for excellence in acting. In hair design and execution, Marissa Nowicki, Quentin Eckert, Sienns Berres, Maya Monden, and Kiya Vanzant received recognition of excellence as well. Hunter VanBelle received recognition of superior achievement in both set design and backstage leadership. Kayla Rice received recognition for her superior soundscape, and then she, Cody Power, and Ellie Thomas received superior achievement recognition for sound execution. Zoey Lydon and Barbara Riendeau received superior achievement awards for their costume design, and then they with their teammate, Olivia Matell, received superior recognition for costume execution. Finally, Ollie Brooks, Liliana Craven, Rosalie Jorgensen, Ava Pagel, and Ellie Thomas all received recognition of superior achievement in makeup design and execution. Anchor Bay High School was also honored with the Innovations in Theatre award, celebrating unique and challenging approaches to theatrical presentation. What an amazing way for us to re-enter this activity after three years! Congratulations are due to ALL of the cast and crew!!! Thank you to all of the staff, community members, and parents who supported us all along the journey to, and from, States!


ABHS DRAMA - REGIONAL ONE ACT COMPETITION

February 6th, 2023

Our one act show Gathering Blue competed at the regional festival this past weekend at Henry Ford II High School. Our show placed second and will advance to state finals in two weeks at Central Michigan University. Many of our students received special recognition awards for their efforts and achievements at the regional festival, including the following: Quentin Eckert, Sarah McGraw, and Kelsey Woolman for excellence in acting, and Sienna Berres with a superior award for acting. Hunter VanBelle received an excellence award for set design, and she, along with following, received superior achievement recognition for set construction: Frank Cooley, Sofia LaBeau, Lilliana Sbraccia, Kai Strong, Adam Tougas, and Jason Weed. Those receiving superior in set construction also received excellence awards for stage crew in moving set for changes, along with Ollie Brooks, Lilliana Craven, Samantha Dahlman, Allison Davis, Kendra Harrison, Rosalie Jorgenson, and Caden Lowran, Marissa Nowicki, and Kiya Vanzant. In sound and effects, Kayla Rice received a superior award for design; she also received an excellent award for execution along with Cody Power and Ellie Thomas. In lighting, Emily Burks received a recognition of superior achievement for design. Zoey Lydon and Barbara Riendeau received excellence awards for their costume design, and then they with Olivia Matell received excellence awards for costume execution. Ollie Brooks, Lilliana Craven, Rosalie Jorgenson, and Ellie Thomas, and head of area Ava Pagel, received excellent awards for makeup design and execution. Vivian Dombro, Kendra Harrison, and Ethan LaVoie received excellent awards for the playbill design. Anchor Bay was also recognized for excellence in backstage leadership, organization, and focus and for superior achievement in stage space adaptation. Please congratulate all of those involved when you get the opportunity and wish them the best as they prepare for State competition.

abhs drama - one act DISTRICT competition

January 23rd, 2023

Anchor Bay High School attended the district theatre festival hosted by Woodhaven High School on Saturday, January 21st with our one act production of Gathering Blue. Our cast and crew of fifty students did a great job, and many received recognition for their outstanding efforts and achievements. Receiving recognitions of excellence were the following: for the show’s playbill, Vivian Dombro, Kendra Harrison, and Ethan Lavoie; Cianna Green for her role as the Singer, Sienna Berres for her role as Annabella, and Vivian Dombro for her role as understudy for Kira. Receiving recognition of superior achievement were the following areas and students: for set design, Hunter Vanbelle and for sound execution, Cody Power, Kayla Rice, and Ellie Thomas. We will travel again on Saturday, February 4th, to Sterling Heights Henry Ford II High School in order to share the fruits of our labor and attempt to secure a spot at the state theatre festival which will be hosted by Central Michigan University February 17th and 18th. Come out and enjoy this amazing activity and support the arts!

24 YEARS - 1st DIvision

October 13th, 2022

Our Marching Tars mastered their “Good Show” at MSBOA District XVI Marching Band Festival! The Tars earned a First Division (Superior) Rating and put their best performance of this show in front of our audience!  They recieved all A’s in the category of Music, all A’s in Marching, and all A+’s in General Effect Showmanship! It’s a great day to be a Tar!
